Running Wild with Bear Tellus
The Polar Bear 5k presented by Runners Roost brought an extra layer of excitement this year with the “Running Wild with Bear Tellus” challenge! Racers didn’t just run—they raced against Bear Tellus, the adventure-loving sponsor mascot from Tellus Outdoor, who felt right at home as he loped through the polar conditions in a 5k time of 23:08.
But Bear Tellus wasn’t fast enough to outrun the six determined runners who bested him to the finish line! As promised, for every runner who finished ahead of Bear Tellus, a symbolic polar bear adoption was made through the World Wildlife Fund. That’s six polar bears adopted thanks to a $150 donation by Bear Tellus, Tellus Outdoor race mascot!
This challenge was more than just fun—it was a chance to make a difference. Every adoption supports the WWF’s efforts to protect endangered wildlife, conserve fragile ecosystems, and create a future where people and nature thrive together.
Huge thanks to Tellus Outdoor for bringing the adventure and purpose to this year’s race. As a local brand dedicated to sustainability, crafting apparel from recycled materials, and donating 100% of profits to environmental causes, they truly embody what it means to run for a greater good and how to bring the Sustainable Fun to an event.
To the runners who beat Bear Tellus—you are polar bear heroes in more ways than one. To everyone, your fortitude in the snowstorm impressed even the real polar bears! Until we see you again, keep running wild and living adventurously.
