October All Stars

Runner of the Month: Jordan Cannon

Jordan Cannon, age 29, was born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado. She has made strong roots here with her husband Bubba, their adorable 18 month-old son Ryker & 3 playful dogs. When she is not with her family she is bringing fun and fashion to this city! This strong business woman is the owner / founder of Lemons & Lace Boutique; a must stop women’s clothing, footwear, and accessory store.
Jordan started running in 2009 with her sister Brandi and soon began to enjoy participating in 5k’s, 10k’s and half marathons. Within the past couple years she found herself gaining speed which she attributes to her Orange Theory workouts. This year the Fall Equinox half marathon filled up before Jordan could register, but that didn’t stop her… On a whim, she decided to run the full marathon and had only trained up to 12 miles. She crushed her first full marathon in under 4 hours!
Her passion for exercise and life is inspiring and we love her “You Can Achieve Anything You Set Your Mind To” attitude. We can’t wait to see what she will do next, but in the mean time you can see her at Lemons & Lace or running trails around town!

Volunteer of the Month: Marty Gerlach & the HAM Radio Team

Marty and his team of HAM Radio volunteers have been involved in the Fall Equinox event every year since it started. In fact, his commitment and excitement to support the event was crucial for it coming into existence 8 years ago. There is no cell reception in the Poudre and Buckhorn Canyon areas where the race runs so we rely on this team of radio operators to provide communications for safety, logistics, and medical support. They not only provide communications in case of emergency, but they support all the runners, making sure supplies are where they are needed or transferred if necessary, provide sag vehicles, parking and traffic control, and relay information to the finish area. Marty and his team make it happen and they know everything that happens on the course.

Ambassador of the Month: Jeff Spiker

One of the Green Events Ambassadors of the North, Jeff Spiker hails from Cheyenne Wyoming. Jeff started running when he was in 9th grade and took it all the way to running for the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Now in his 50s he continues to run because of the sense of accomplishment, health benefits, and enjoyment. Jeff had been running Green Events races for the past two years, but was one of our new members to the 2019 Ambassador Team. He has no problem with the commute from Cheyenne to Fort Collins for all our races, and even makes the trip to volunteer and come to group runs regularly as well. His favorite race is the Fall Equinox where he finished 2nd in his age group running a 1:32 half marathon – congrats Jeff!

When he is not running, he enjoys reading, traveling and running his successful small business. With a persistent smile and always willing to go out of his way to lend a helping hand we love having Jeff as part of our team!
