Runner of the Month: Steven Pretak

Stephen Pretak is not only shocking the Green Events community this month with his fast time of a grueling 10k course, but also with his stylish race outfit. Finishing first in the Colorado Run 10k, Stephen dawned a button-down shirt he got from J. Crew years ago. He makes this fashion statement not only to remind himself not to take running too seriously but also to make the race volunteers smile. “I find myself in too much of a rush during the race to stop and thank them all, so I figured I would try to dress nice for them,” said Stephen. “Hopefully they appreciate it half as much as I appreciate them.” Not only is Stephen crushing races and having fun on the trails, but he and his wife welcomed their first baby to the family only a few weeks ago! In addition to being flexible with training, Stephen is grateful for support from his wife who understands and shares his love for the outdoors. We look forward to seeing more of Stephen and his fashion statements in the future!

Volunteer of the Month: Colleen Reyes

Colleen has been a part of the Green Events key volunteer team for several years. Many of you know her from the check-in/registration table at our weekly Horsetooth Open Water Swim series in the summer. And many of you may not know her because she is often one of our behind-the-scenes volunteers helping prepare for the races. This month we had an unexpected emergency leading up to the Colorado Run and Colleen showed up ready to do whatever was needed. She is one of many who were integral in ensuring the event happened and all the details were taken care of, but we recognize her this month because she has been that volunteer and friend for years.
When told she had been selected for the monthly highlight her response on why she volunteers brought tears to our eyes; “The Green Events business and team show us all that there is good in the world. I love being around people who want to help others, contribute to their well-being, value the outdoors, and care for the earth.”

When you see Colleen give her a hug or high 5, she is one of those special people that make our community great!

Ambassador of the Month: Lynette Johnson

At Green Events races, one thing that you can usually count on is seeing Lynette Johnson and her two jack russell terriers- Jack and Cabby. Lynette is one of our most enthusiastic Green Events Ambassadors. Lynette confirms that Jack and Cabby are always excited for Green Events races. “You will
hear them barking at the startline of every race,” she said. When she is not playing with her pups or racing for Green Events, she loves to go on long runs and hit the trails. She’ll be staying busy this year with races from The Firecracker 5k, to the Crested Butte Ultra 55k with fellow Green Events Ambassador Tammy Felton! We love to have Lynette and her furry friends at all of our races to inspire us with her tenacity and contribute to the community with her positive energy!
