Runner of the Month: Collin Knaub

Collin Knaub was born and raised in Loveland CO and now lives in Denver where he spends his days as a forensic scientist for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. He likes to visit his hometown for the Loveland Classic races each year and for the past 2 years he has won the 10k. This year he decided to take on the new Loveland Classic race category, the Broken 15k. In this category you run the 10k first, rest for whatever amount of time you have until the 5k start and then run the 5k, with combined race times figured for the 15k. While he didn’t come in 1st in either of the 10k or 5k races (4th overall and 2nd overall respectively) he had a good strategy which earned him 1st overall in the 15k! Congrats Collin and thanks for taking on our new race challenge!
While Collin was a runner in middle school and high school he took a little break before he got back into running seriously as an adult. He has been training and racing competitively for the past 8 years and has been on the Runners Roost race team for the past 5 of those years. The half marathon is a favorite distance but favorite race is definitely the Phoenix Marathon where he ran his marathon PR (2:39:10). With a family and life balance in the mix he’s backing off the marathon distance for a while and is focused on 5k and 10k PRs this year so look for him at upcoming races like the Colorado Marathon 10k and Bolder Boulder 10k.

Volunteer of the Month: Gail Baker

Green Events is one of Gail Bakers biggest fans. Gail has been volunteering with Green Events since day one. Gail works Green Events packet pickup at almost every race we put on each season. If Gail sees a need during the race, she gladly steps in to help. She is also quick to provide answers or find someone who can help! We love Gail. We do not know what we would do without our incredible volunteers.

Ambassador of the Month: Marissa DeMercurio

Marissa DeMercurio has been a part of Green Events since the beginning. If you participated in an event, you’ve probably seen her, she usually sports pigtails, she’s been known to win first female on multiple occasions, and she sells Green Events swag like nobody’s business.

Marissa’s passion for running is evident throughout everything she does. Marissa started running as a stress relief which eventually turned into a full blown lifestyle for her. Marissa offers online coaching services to help you achieve your next running goal. Whether you want to PR your 5K or run your first marathon!
