2021 FALL EQUINOX RECAP

After taking a year off in 2020, the Fall Equinox Marathon, Half Marathon,& 5 Mile was back, & stronger than ever. Participants began their morning well before the sun was up at the bus loading area, being chauffeured to their starting lines: the beautiful Ohana Ranch for the Marathon, the “Always a Party” Mishawaka for the half marathon, and the gorgeous Gateway Natural Area for the 5 Mile. With the morning light beginning to peak over the tops of the foothills, the starting guns went off & participants were treated to dazzling views of rock formations, the gushing Poudre River, & the native boxelders, pines, and cottonwood trees all bathed in the early dawn light.

The finish area was palpable with excitement as almost 1000 participants ended their run at the bottom of the Poudre Canyon, with some runners breaking course records, many breaking personal records, and all (literally and figuratively) jumping for joy at their well-earned victory!

Runners were treated to an amazing finish line celebration. Ginger Whale kept the crowd roaring with their comedic prowess & catchy songs. Otter Box was on scene handing out tumblers to a several lucky runners & Rebound Physical Therapy had a recovery station set up for participants to stretch & unwind. Horse & Dragon was not to be missed with their signature craft beers & if that wasn’t enough, Horsetooth Hot Sauce was putting a little pep back into participants’ steps with bloody Mary’s.

It was almost more work exploring the finish area than it was to run the race!

This year, Fall Equinox introduced on-site parking to allow runners and spectators to socially distance while also raising money for the Fall Equinox’s beneficiaries. Over $1500 was raised for the Fall Equinox beneficiaries!
